Some things I am pondering of late...
Knowledge is knowing tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is not putting it in fruit salad.
"If a commission by an earthly king is considered a honor, how can a commission by a Heavenly King be considered a sacrifice?"
"The poet only asks to get his head into the heavens. It is the logician who seeks to get the heavens into his head. And it is his head that splits."
Sow a thought, reap an action
Sow an action, reap a habit
Sow a habit, reap a character
Sow a character, reap a Destiny
("you reap what you sow")
From UVA XA Sermon September 2010 (Pete Bullette)
So lots of people think: I don’t live to work, I work to live… it’s all about that discretionary time (time outside of work… my free time)
But REALITY is that:
“As an adult you will spend at least 50% of your waking life at work. So are we saying that 50% of our life is meaningless and that 50% of our life is a waste?”
What is your theology of work?
"COMMITMENT IS A POSITIVE TERM, BUT TO A LOT OF PEOPLE THE WORD IS REGARDED AS THE OPPOSITE OF FREEDOM...
THEY FEEL IT IS AN EITHER OR SITUATION--YOU CAN EITHER BE COMMITTED OR BE FREE.
ACTUALLY--COMMITMENT FREES US TO HAVE STABILITY IN OUR LIVES."
